Burchfield Penny Art Gallery

This had the greatest impact on me due to the fact that it had resembled a popular issue going on in the world right now. This piece was by The Collaborators mad to represent the damage we. are doing to our planet, with the amount of unnecessary garbage we use on a day to day basis.

This piece I was very impressed with. This took a lot of skill to be able to draw straight lines going every which way. It also slightly reminded me of a mandala, so I found it very pleasing to look at. This was by Sally Cook in 1965 and was called " City of Dreams ".

I felt a connection with this piece do to the fact that I have always loved floral prints and paintings, even as a child. This piece was called " Holly Hocks" by Howard Beach in 1920. The flowers in this painting are beautiful and pleasing to look at.

I also felt a connection with this piece due to the fact that "The Four Food Groups" made by John McQueen. This piece was mazing and took a lot of dedication and hard work. This piece is mad entirely out of zip ties and sticks. The zip ties make up the words cake, coffee, beer and bacon. This was based on a dream that McQueen had and I definitely have dreamed about those four things as well.
This photo amazes me. This was a piece by Robert Blair called "Fire, Holland". I think this a photo you need to know more about because it is an issue that is also being faced currently. There are many forest fires and many more animals dying from these fires.

I wouldn't say this is a photo you need to know more about, but I would say it is amazing. I use to visit Boston very often which is where this picture is based.  This is "Sunshine and Cloud Shadows" by Arthur Kowalski. This also reminds me of Buffalo with all the snow and trees.

Art is something we see everyday and colors are something that we feel and they can control our emotions. I never realized how much art surrounds us until this video mentioned it.  Everyone expects people to look a certain way and having an ideal body image is never something we should support.

  1. I also visited the Burchfield Penney Art Gallery for this project. One of the artworks we both shared is that of the Fire, Holland, NY. I also wanted to know more about it, but I questioned what feelings the artist was feeling, and what others were feeling at that time. I like that your thinking is in more terms for present day because fires are so common now, especially in places such as Australia.

  2. I visited the Burchfield Penney Art Center as well. The one piece we both mentioned was the "Four Food Groups" created by John McQueen. I agree that the work of art was amazing and had to of taken a lot of time and effort. I think that his choice of media was by far the most impressive part. Although the piece could have been based on a dream he had, I believe he was trying to symbolize how plants have consumed or taken over the wastelands of industrial times through his use of media and word choice.
