Element & Principles of Art

I took this photo for forms because the tic tac is a 3D sphere.

The blind in this photo are uniform lines that are vertical.

The circles on this pot show all the different sizes of shapes the can be used to add decoration too an object.

The water behind the flower shows texture.

The plant is infant of the window, which effects the way we view the plant.

The water is purple and everything around it is in black and white, showing balance.

The wine glass are all the same size, showing unity.

The eye and eyebrow are the only detailed objects in this photo and are proportionate to one another.

When looking at this photo, your eyes are directly drawn to the girl in the middle due to the lines and proportion of the walkway, showing movement.

The color of the singers hat is aq bright brand and the viewers eyes are drawn to it.

The caterpillar has a detailed pattern all along its back.

There is both reflection in the window and the coffee in the cup. This causes the viewer to look all around the photo.

Many shades are in this photo, showing many values of similar colors.

Your eyes are drawn directly to the bright orange sky.

I was in Florida when this project was first given, so I took advantage of that and went around taking photos that applied to the elements and the principles of art. Any photos I did not take in Florida were taken around my house. I also went to a concert and was able to take photos that applied.

Not sure if the slide show below will work but I included it anyway. :-)

  1. The photos taken depict each element and principle very well. One that draws my attention most is of the one for contrast. There is the reflection of the cup, and also things outside behind the window. This leads the eye to look at every aspect, and every object that is within the frame. The photo for texture is also very captivating as well. Not only is there texture of the flower which contrasts against the texture of the water, but the water also provides a sense of movement. It is interesting to see how each photo can hold more than one element or principle, but some are more obvious than others.

  2. I loved the picture you had for texture. Both the flower and the water implied textures of the feeling you get when touching each object. Especially the water, the picture looks like there was soft waves or movement when taken. I also loved the picture used for color. I included a picture of a sunset in my project as well. The blue and orange colors are so bright against the darker colors in between. That picture could have been used for multiple principles and elements. I love nature and animals so I really enjoyed the picture of the caterpillar too. The pattern on it's back was amazing. Great pictures!
