1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.
I chose Art and Life in the Middle Ages: The Luttrell Psalter & Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany because both of the names sounded appealing and drew me in.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Art and Life in the Middle Ages- The Luttrell Psalter: The Luttrell Psalter is an illuminated psalter commissioned by Sir Geoffrey Luttrell. The Luttrell Psalter was composed of beautiful calligraphy and extremely fine illustrations. Most of the art contained references to religion and the Bible. Humans were created as deformed in The Luttrell Psalter . Fashion and war was also a great inspiration for much of the art work during this time in The Luttrell Psalter, they also were inspired by farm life and work. Many illustrations in The Luttrell Psalter were of games and revels, acrobats and entertainers, and bear baiting. The illustrators included many monsters or "babewyns" in inexplicable activities, which I find very interesting but odd. There was a middivil feast where many gathered to celebrate life, which was displayed in the The Luttrell Psalter.

Art and Life in the Middle Ages- The Luttrell Psalter: The Luttrell Psalter was entirely composed of art work about the medieval times and what they experienced during these time. The artist used various shapes, colors and lines to create each person and piece int The Luttrell Psalter.
Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany: The art designed during the Renaissance and the Plague was great influenced by the environment around them. The Plague inspire more "devilish" art, where as when the Renaissance came the art became much more uplifting and creative.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
Art and Life in the Middle Ages- The Luttrell Psalter: The Luttrell Psalter showed beautiful art and it was very interesting to learn where the inspiration for the The Luttrell Psalter came from.
Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany: This film was very interesting. I found it intriguing to learn about how the plague affected art and several other jobs. This video showed how much the culture and environment can influence art. This video also reminded me of what is going on around us today.

Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany: The bubonic plague caused any problems for the people in Siena and Florence. Many pieces of dazzling works went unfinished. Artisans became more intrigued with the divine world than the natural, and from the ashes a new spiritual inquiry would spring, which paved the way for the High Renaissance. The plague was carried from China to Europe. Art became more religious, people continued to pray for health. Painting changed in many significant ways after the Plague. An artist named Taddeo di Bartolo painted many gruesome images of hell. After the Plague art became much less realistic than earlier. After the plague, the Renaissance sparked many creative pieces of work.
